Walmart ripoff different pricing at different stores Mesa Arizona *Consumer Comment ..Understand your frustration, however....

I was at one of the Walmart stores in my area yesterday where I purchased a few different items. One of these was a throw rug priced at $7.49. Later in the day I went to a different Walmart store in my area, Falcon Field, (these stores are located 8 miles apart) While looking for an item I noticed the rug that I had bought earlier in the day. However at this Walmart it was on clearance for $5.00. Needless to say I wasn't happy that I paid an extra $2.49 for the same rug. I happened to have the receipt in my purse so after I finished my shopping I stopped at the service counter to ask why this would be.

It was explained to me that all of the Walmart stores are on different schedules so what may be on clearance at one is not the same at another. I was told I could drive the 8 miles to the original store and return it and I could buy the rug there at the reduced price. Needless to say I wasn't going to spend the gas to drive back to the other Walmart. I probably would have cost me more than the original $2.49 in the end. Moral of my story? Keep an eye on Walmart prices, they are not always the same.

This is a customary practice for most retailers. Generally, merchandise that are CLEARANCE should be price the same across board to all STORES. I am a bit surprised WALMART did not refunded you the $7.49. Customer satisfaction or customer service should be part of the service they are providing.

Oh they would have refunded her money, at the original store, where she had a receipt to. At that store, they would only refund her $5.00. It's about their books balancing at the end of the day. It's the same at the holidays, if you purchase an item before Christmas, keep the receipt, because if it has to be returned for a refund after Christmas at the same store, and it's been marked down, they will give you the refund at the mark down price unless you have your receipt showing the original price you paid.

My advice to the nice lady above is, let it go. You liked the rug at $7.49 and thought at the time you paid for it that it was a good price. Yes, it's irritating that later at an different WalMart you found it priced down, but what are the odds of anyone being in two different WalMarts in the same week much less the same day? Enjoy your rug regardless of the price you paid. It was still a good value. Don't let $2.49 spoil your pleasure.

This is widespread "business practice" among mal wart stores. Just this week I ran into someone who'd been burned the same way by the local mal wart. Needless to say they made a zellers customer for life from now on.
