Quite a few complaints on these folks. Anyone care to share some light. Poetry.com, International Library Of Poetry, Noble Housepoetry.com, International Library Of Poetry, Noble House, International Society Of Poets Ripoff scammed heartbroken and feeling like a fool Owings Mills Maryland I am just one more of the "hopeful" starry eyed scammed by poetry.com and some of their aliases. Maybe we all should have known better or listened to that little voice in our heads that was screaming "its too good to be true!!", but we didn't. We grasped onto the hand extended to us and trusted that it was real, only to watch as the hand turn to mist before our eyes and disappeared leaving us to fall. How many times did I hear myself say " This cant be real" ? About a hundred. How many times did I talk myself into believing that it was real? A hundred and one. Therein lay my mistake. Right now I am heartbroken and ashamed of myself for being mislead so easily...but the dream is so strong we all can't help but believe. If wanting to believe that you're dream may finally be on its way to coming true, then all of us who have been scammed are guilty. It is this company that is fraudulently leading us to believe that they are the key to helping us attain our dream. This company should be stopped from doing this. Advertising / Deceptive Submitted: 6/18/2005 2:18:31 AM Modified: 6/18/2005 2:19:00 AM International Society Of Poets, Poetry America & Poetry.Com -All Editors In These SCAMS! International Whos Who In Poetry -INVITATION Owings Mills Maryland Company International Society Of Poets, Poetry - America & Poetry.Com Address: 1 Poetry Plaza Owings Mills Maryland 21117 U.S.A. Phone Number: 410-3562000 Today another dream has been shattered...by an Aspiring Writer/Poet. Entering poetry contests on the Internet was something I took very personally. Receiving my first response letter, after submitting a poem was thrilling. The crushing Blow...came after opening the envelope and reviewing the contents. Instead of wanting to reward me for my poetry submission, they had the audacity to solicit money from me to purchase "The International Who's Who In Poetry" with my Poem and Boigraphical Info...of which I needed to send along with a check. Howard Ely, Managing Editor had signed the Ediotr's Choice Award for Outstanding ACHIEVEMENT in Poetry. Not only do aspiring poets get recognition for thier efforts...they now have to pay for this recognition. Searching their archives of other poets, I found 3 other family members with works on Poetry.com's site. Being younger...and I am sure more Internet Savvy...I am too embarrassed to verbalize my initial excitement, only to discover the sham that poetry sites are proliferating with their enticements to enter contests. P.S. In early June I received an invitation to attend a Symposiun in Washington D.C. (Aug. 19, 2005) at the Special Offer of only $595.00. This was for the convention only. Iffffff.....I was selected...I could win Cash or prizes... What a JOKE...I am now a little more attuned to the reality of these scams. I thought I share this with you because this individual seems VERY upset. Yes i do believe that poetry.com is a bloody scam. I remember a few months back i entered a poem, which i thought was pretty good because i do write and love poetry. This happened around March 2005. About a month later, when i had almost forgtten about it, i get an email from Howard Ely, telling me that i'm an a semi finalist and my poem has made it to the finals and will be entered into the "Eternal Portraits". Now those who have encoured Poetry.com, will know that when you submit a poem with them, they would send you a letter via post and ask you to make any typograhical corrections, plus submit a biography and send it off. The first poem i did, had some errors and i made the corrections and sent it off. This ws in April. Then late last month, i get another letter saying my poem was so good that they wanted it in a CD. When i got the letter, i noticed the errors were NOT corrected. Then i decided to look them up on Ripoff, to see the legitimacy.... Busted!!! They have so many reports on them it's not even funny! What i noticed about them is that they'll send you all the crap in the mail, placing emphasis for you to buy their books (even when they say no purchase necessary to enter, which is a ploy, just to entice unsuspecting people), but still throw it in your face to try and buy it, by introducing special prices, so on and so forth. I never sent any money to them, Thank God. What a bloody bunch of nonsense. Shame on you Howard Ely, for playing around with peole's emotions and talent, just for your personal gain. You need to be stopped. And it's not to say the people who submit their poems aren't talented and it's a darn shame when people try to use poetry.com as a tool to get some form of artist recognition and all they're doing is building on false hope. I think poetry.com's days really should be numbered because it's only a matter of time when the public will see them for what they truly are, lying, cunniving, and scum and they will be boycotted and NO ONE will EVER have anything to do with them... now let's see their artist talent now!! Dalz Jonesboro, Georgia U.S.A. Poetry.com What a Scam and Ripoff!! They need to be Stopped!! Owings Mills Maryland *Consumer Suggestion ..Not true for me http://ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff146567.htm |

Is American Poets Society associated with Poetry.com? There seems to be quite some complaints about them also. |

Submitted: 1/18/2007 7:10:29 PM Modified: 1/18/2007 7:10:00 PM Poetry.com ripoff Is A Scam and a Waste of Time Owings Mills Maryland Company Poetry.com Address: poetry.com Owings Mill Maryland U.S.A. Phone Number: Fax: Poetry.com is a scam. I have won over eight editors choice awards in the past two years alone, I just started throwing out all the envelops. I never win any cash. I have won a bronze medal for poet of the year but never recieved it because I had to pay for it. I have posted 25+ poems on there site and I'm tired of the bull. I have had 20+ poems added into there yearly and montly prizes and they tell you theres 104 or so prizes and like 20 cash prizes. Well, heres the math. 20 poems of mine and 104 prizes to be one out of how many people? Well, either way it equals, sorry thanks for the poem you lost somebody else has one. Lets make up a few names. So we can get theses people off our backs. Worse then a dang scratch off, I tell you. Stay away from poetry.com, no matter how good it sounds. Your only wasting your time. Poetry.com is a SCAM.
