Voidcomp.com | | I was nearly taken in by this. You would think at my age, I would know that it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck. . . . .
These people make it all sound so simple.. They want you to cash checks that they mail to you and then send them overseas. Sounds easy and lucrative.
I received 3 checks in the mail today. They were for $1500 a piece. I was thinking that it was pretty silly for someone to send me checks and telling me to take 10%, but send the rest to Latvia via Wester Union. What is to stop me from keeping them?
I decided to check out their website again. I did it when I was first contacted by them from CareerBuilder. Looked ok. They didn't ask for any bank info or anything, no social security number or anything, so I felt ok about it. The emails from them were not going into my spam folder, so that made me think that they had some kind of legitimate origin.
Their website is down and there were matches to my "search" that made me feel like a total fool. I was a victim and I hope that there are no more serious consequences than my bruised ego.
I filed a complaint, but I'm still unsure as to what I should do with the checks. Should I keep them? Send them back to where they came from?
I just don't want anyone else to be taken in by this. |
