Slick Ebay Modus Operandi

You don't want to fall for this my friends.

Here's the set-up:

1. I buy a high-priced item (in this case, a graphics card costing >$300)...I haven't seen this thing happen with low-cost items, which I can understand.

2. About a day later I receive an email that looks like it comes from EBay...and I mean REALLY looks like it comes from EBay. It even has the links about how to recognize spoof emails and everything.

3. The email claims to be coming from the seller and that the item was won by a buyer who backed out on the deal and so they are giving me a "second chance" opportunity to buy the item. Sounds pretty good, except for the fact that a) I was the high bidder & won the item; and b) I had already paid for it.

4. The sender says that I need to respond directly to their email address, and not through EBay because, "eBay sent this Second Chance Offer on behalf of an eBay Protected Seller. Responses sent using reply will not reach the eBay member. Use this Email address Robert098leon@yahoo.com to contact the seller directly ." OK...so why aren't they sending this to me directly through my EBay account so I get a message? I'll tell you why...they think I'm a stupid ****er, that's why!

5. The two emails I received with their "second chance" offers were FOR THE SAME AUCTION I had won! LOL

6. I didn't fall for this for a second.

The first one I got I sent a message to the seller through EBay and asked if they had sent it...which, of course, they hadn't. So I forwarded that on to spoof@ebay.com as I did this one.

Just wanted to throw the word around about this one. The first email I got was clearly a hoax...very sloppy design and so forth. But the second one...WOW. It was very convincing at first glance. BEWARE! Muwahahahaha!
