Instant Human Resources Impact Worldwide Talent Expo SCAM

Impact Worldwide Talent Expo

From a young woman's blog. A true story.

Quote:
Wednesday, March 15, 2006
I did something very stupid w/ my debit card number and now I'm gonna pay out the ass for it. I've always had an issue with putting too much trust in people, and this time, as usual, it has bitten me in ass, but this time a little harder. One of my bosses at work gave me information for this internet company, Impact Worldwide, that he just started working for part time. I don't even think he understood what it was about to be honest. It's a general talent agency looking for models, actors, musicians, ect. Normally I wouldn't even give a website like that a second thought, but since my boss was involved it seemed like a trustworthy endevor. How wrong I was. How very ,very wrong I was. They took my card number and charged first $895 to it, but since it wouldn't go through, dropped down to $475, which did go through. Now I'm overdrafted like a sonofa***** because my naive little ass put trust where it NEVER should have been. I'm gonna talk to my boss about it and tell him to get out before it's too late for him. I've cancelled my card, but I have to wait until the charge posts to see where the money is going before I can dispute the charge. So until then, I'm more than dead broke. Luckily, Chris is gonna send me some money to survive off of for the next couple weeks until I get paid. I'm going to stop my direct deposit for now, and all my automatic bill pays. This account is going to be unused, period, for a while.

Please don't leave comments lecturing me on why I never should have done what I did. I knew that ahead of time. I know even better now. I don't need lectured to know what a HUGE mistake I made. I just hope that my bank will work with me to get this taken care of. I have a feeling that it will be money I will never get back or see again though. I'm so mad at myself. How can I be so naive and trusting after all the times I've been kicked in the ass before? Am I just stupid? Am I that kid that had to touch the hot stove more than once to get the hint that it would hurt me? What the hell?! Who does that? I don't know what the hell to do now though. I'm broke til I get money from Chris. This ****s. I'm scared to tell my dad because I know he's going to yell at me too. Chris already did til I started crying then he stopped. I almost want to call into work tonight and just cry and sleep. This is SO not cool. This royally ****s. I think I may be done with the whole internet thing for a while.

What can one say more?

SCAM SCAM SCAM!

Impact 210 president Michael Fomkin, who is fully aware of the scam Alec Defrawy is using his company for, apparently got a warning about my posting the story on scam.com. Now he is trying to save his ass. He immediately subscribed to the blog and posted following in the girl's reaction form, to try and smoothen up things in public and keep the law out. Or do we think he is really concerned about the girl?

Quote:
If this really happenned to you and this is just not a competitor attacking Impact I am very concerned. My name is Mike Fomkin, I am the President of Impact. Please call me at my cell phone 1-631-662-2640.

I will personally make sure that if Impact had anything to do with your money being lost that it is immediatly replaced.

I have advised her to tell her parents and let it handle by the police.

Update March 23:
Relief. Angelpink Pam has let me know her bank is very involved and said this may become a federal case. We'll wait and see.

My name is Trey McCoy and I just moved out to Arizona to go after my acting career. I have done plays, stand up for a year and been on a sitcom. (didn't get picked up but I was there) We were on local Michigan WB at 1 am on saturday but they didn't go with the show. I'm going to L.A. in a couple of weeks to get an agent but right now I'm doing small things for students and such. I'm looking to do small to big speaking parts. Not looking to be an extra in a cround of people. Willing to do a lot for less. Let me know.

Have you ever considered an acting or modeling career, but didn’t want to pay a ton of money up front? Well, Impact Worldwide may be what you have been searching for!

Impact Worldwide allows talent to post their digital portfolio for free, with no strings attached. Here's how it works: when a client selects a talent or submits an opportunity for which the talent is qualified, talent will receive a booking request from the client. The talent then has the option of whether or not to purchase that booking request. Talent pays $3.95 for each booking request.

By signing up today there is an added incentive. Impact Worldwide has entered into a $1,000,000 advertising campaign with People, Teen People and In Style to find our spokes model and "new face of the year" the winner will be crowned in January - 07 and will be awarded a 5-year $100,000 endorsement contract.

Every model or actor enrolling with impact worldwide is eligible to enter the competition free of charge. Impact Worldwide staff will select 50 finalists (50 most beautiful people) each month and place the finalists picture and profile on the web site and prominently on In Style, People, and Teen People's website's.

The 13 finalists (each month's winner plus the winner of the impact worldwide showcase event) will be flown to New York for an editorial photo shoot and a feature interview in the magazine and a star studded final competition. The winner will be crowned "new face of the year" on our ad campaign with People magazine online and awarded the $100,000 spokes model contract.

What do you have to loose? This may be your opportunity of a lifetime. Take a few minutes and check out the web site at www.impactww.com It may change your life!

Be sure to use AMREO282 as the Scout ID when you sign up. If you have any questions you can contact me at Amanda.Reynolds@impactww.com

Re: Impact Worldwide Talent Expo SCAM

Okay, to those of you who may not be "in the know" about this company, I am here to tell you a little more about it. I know this was a discussion in another forum of ModelMayhem a couple of months ago; however, I recently received an email from one of the "scouts" (Krista Sickelsmith) of this company stating they found me on MM.

DO NOT GIVE ANY MONEY TO THIS COMPANY! If you do your research, you can find the VERY SAME castings (they charge $3.95 per casting) for FREE off the internet.

How do I know?

I signed up with this company in its initial stages (sign-up is free), but when I started looking at their castings (which are available also for free unless you would like the contact information), I suddenly realized EVERY SINGLE casting was from another area I had visited, such as MM. Also, they do not give you the requirements to the castings. Many of the castings they ask you to buy are not even in your state -- money down the drain!!

And to those who are "scouting" for this company, they owe A LOT of money to their "scouts." Do not waste your time.

Re: Instant Human Resources Impact Worldwide Talent Expo SCAM

I will tell you...I've been employed with Impact for about 4 months. After only a month and a half I was promoted to Scout Manager. I'm not sure what each of your individual situations were but I've not had any problems. I receive my pay consistantly....and a very substantial pay at that! There are so many web sites out there "claiming" Impact is a scam. What's the scam??

I received proper training and I work with my manager on a daily basis, which leads me to believe that you all were just not doing YOUR job or did not fit the needed profile to make it as a model/actor!
