Liberty League International (Who Are These Folks)

I have come seen several posting about Liberty League. From the website, this operation sound legit and there is a potential. Is this another Herbalife or Amway?

http://www.libertyleague.com/start
http://libertyleagueintl.blogspot.com/

ABOUT LLI
Since its creation in 2001, Liberty League International has been one of the fastest-growing direct sales companies in the world. Our expanding community of associates spans several continents. In addition to being a powerful positive force in the lives of its associates and customers for generating financial and emotional wealth, Liberty League is a major contributor to humanitarian efforts around the globe.

History
Having spent 15 combined years in the direct sales industry, Brent Payne and Shane Krider developed a unique vision. They envisioned a path to elevate a person in any way he chooses -- financially, emotionally, physically. Brent and Shane's desire to help people led to the production of the Beyond Freedom program - a program which fundamentally changes paradigms and daily routines to liberate individual potential.

As the Beyond Freedom program changed the lives of many people around them, Shane and Brent decided to go one step further. As a way to build a community of wealth-conscious individuals and to promote the positive life-vision detailed in Beyond Freedom, Brent and Shane created Liberty League International.

"It has been amazing to watch this company grow," said Brent. "We have heard countless stories about how people have changed their situation because a friend introduced them to Beyond Freedom."

Vision
The vision of LLI's founders is the vision shared by LLI's associates: enriching lives. Financial independence and enriching life experiences is the goal of Liberty League's Executives and Associates alike.

Community
Liberty League Associates are a unique group of people. As anyone who has attended a Liberty League event can confirm, there is something special about a person who has discovered her potential through Liberty League: she is a positive, wealthy, happy individual, ready to meet life's challenges and come out on top.

Re: Liberty League International (Who Are These Folks)

Never heard of them until a scammer today claimed I was running them or something!
  • Domain registered for two years already, which is good.
  • No phone number, which is bad.
  • Address seems genuine, which is good.

At first glance it does seem to be an Amway-style outfit. I suspect that it's the sort of thing where you eventually humiliate yourself by trying to sell friends and family products they do not need, so definitely not my idea of a good business model. It does appear to be a real business though, not a fly-by-night scam.

ScamBuster -
Now your the scam - providing wrong phone numbers for someone to contact you regarding an issue about your claim in this forum. Since you don't have a problem sharing personal information on this forum from others, please post your home phone number so that all the false information you state can be dealt with with a phone call to you ("No phone number, which is bad" - your a scam if you give false phone numbers or if you don't post it when someone asks for it).

So is LLI legit or not? I spoke to a representative on the phone last night. I have been investigating the company before I make a decision.

Re: Liberty League International (Who Are These Folks)

To everyone who is looking into Liberty League as a "legitimate" home based business opportunity...you might want to keep looking...

There comes a time in every entrepreneur's career when he or she must decide if their business is going to be able to sustain their financial goals for the future. I have been involved with Liberty League for quite some time, and in that time have had some financial success. But for various reasons over the last few weeks, I have been forced to ask myself if Liberty League was not only going to help me sustain the financial goals that I have established for my family and I, but more importantly was Liberty League still a company that I could feel good about being a part of...was the level of integrity with the company in fact solid. The answers to these questions came very definitively over the last several weeks based on several unexpected events, and I have no doubt that my decision to move on to a greater and more prosperous opportunity was the right one.

For those of you who are reading this post, I commend you for doing your homework on Liberty League. If you have any questions regarding the business, the products, or about my decision to transition my business to another opportunity, please feel free to contact me. Whether you are interested in the opportunity or not, I think you would greatly benefit from hearing first hand what has transpired over the last several weeks with regard to my affiliation with Liberty League.

Kindest Regards,
Joe

GOVERNMENT ACTIONS

On May 24, 2006, the Arizona Attorney General announced a settlement with Liberty League International and their principles Brent Payne and Shane Krider. The consent judgment resolved complaints that the multi-level marketing corporation "tricked" consumers into spending money by promising "sizable commissions" if they marketed three personal development products and recruited new participants into their program. According to the document filed in Superior Court, the program participants didn't earn enough money to cover the cost spent on the products they were selling.

The Settlement requires Liberty League International to pay $100,000 in civil penalties, refrain from making unsubstantiated earnings claims, advise consumers of the correct percentage of participants that have made a profit through the Liberty League Program and refrain from making false and deceptive claims in their marketing materials.

For further information on this settlement you may wish to visit the Arizona Attorney General's website at www.attorney_general.state.az.us.

ADDITIONAL FILE INFORMATION

The Bureau has requested basic information from this company. The Bureau has not received a response.

Prospective investors should carefully examine a multi-level sales program to be reasonably certain it is not a pyramid scheme which emphasizes recruitment of distributors rather than retail sale of the product. Investors should be wary of promises of high potential earnings, especially without effort, time and serious personal commitment. No more than a minimal initial inventory should be required to become a distributor, and a reliable firm will guarantee in writing that unsold products will be bought back for a certain percentage of the original price. Pyramid schemes are illegal in virtually every state. The fact that some underlying program is offered does not make them legal. Anyone who participates in these programs could also be subject to criminal prosecution. Consumers are advised to call their local Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission for more information.

The Bureau's pamphlet, "Tips on Multi-Level Marketing," is available upon request.

EDUCATIONAL/GENERAL COMMENTS

If you are considering investing in a business opportunity, the Better Business Bureau suggests the following tips to help you avoid falling victim to a business opportunity fraud.

1] Ask the company where it is incorporated and whether it has an in-state office; ask for names of owners and officers, their backgrounds, and prior business experience. Verify the information with the BBB or another impartial outside organization.

2] If you will be selling a product, ask questions about it, what it will cost you, your source of supply, any performance claims and guarantees, the company's replacement and repair policies and procedures for handling complaints from you or your customers.

3] Ask about any initial fees you will be required to pay and what they are to be used for. If you will be marketing a service, verify all costs and ask for a detailed written agreement specifying the type and duration of assistance with start up procedures and obtaining clients.

4] Get written copies of the company's business and financial statements and other important documents. Ask an accountant, attorney or outside financial expert to review the materials.

5] Investigate and verify all information received from the salesperson.

6] Consult with people who know the particular product or type of business you may be entering. Review with them the selling company's claims conserning marketability of the product, pricing, projected profits, etc. You may want to review the contract and other documents with an attorney.

7] Independently contact some of the people who have already invested in the product or service about their experience.

8] If you decide to invest, get all promises in writing and the contract signed by an authorized agent of the company. If you suspect fraud, contact the Better Business Bureau.
