Well all, I've decided to start this thread in light of the recent development in the AFL/CIO split. 1. Are Unions a thing of the past or not? 2. Are they on Life Support? 3. Have employers live up to their loyalty to employees 4. Just express your opinion. |

I think unions are still a very important thing. Massive amounts of people can accomplish great things. Eventually in the future uninions will become less important because there will be more people to fill those positions. Today however, they are one of the greatest tools of the workers. Unions do cause problems. Unions push for minimum wage which gets rid of jobs that would pay less than that and as a result, shrink the job market. We've had minimum wage forever so I think that it's not so much a problem in the states but in developing countries it can cause a lot of issues. In my theory, over 30% of the workers have to be in the union for it to cause any change. I think in 100 years unions will probably be a thing of the past. |

If they go away, the average worker will have lost a very important voice. |
