Submitted: 2/6/2007 1:16:14 PM Modified: 2/6/2007 1:16:00 PM HouseHold Finance - Greenheart Farms ripoff Check Scams Claim Awards scam Las Vegas Nevada Company HouseHold Finance - Greenheart Farms Address: P.O Box 58754 Las Vegas Nevada U.S.A. Phone Number: 647-830-6916 The company sends you a letter with a 4 digit claim number, and also sends you a check for a well known bank like:Wells Fargo for an amount of almost $5,000.In the letter it states that you have won $48,000 in unclaimed money and they are holding your funds. In order to get your money, you have to cash the $5,000 check that looks real,I must say.The check is for foreign taxes and they send you the rest of the $44,000 by a courier service within 3 to 5 business days.If you do not reply by a certain time frame they give your money over to the state. When I saw the check I was very tempted,It had my name and address and also the watermark on the check. But if you try and cash it,you will be arrested for fraud.Thank God I watched 3 on your side before I received this check.I would be in a world of hurt right now.PLEASE DO NOT FALL INTO THE TRAP! DO NOT CASH THE CHECK!You should not have to pay to receive winnings. If it's to good to be true.It is. Amy Surprise, Arizona U.S.A.

Woman Avoids Being Scammed Woman Out Smarts Scam The bad guys are at it again with another offer you should refuse. Some people have already been fooled. But one potential victim was wiser than the con artist. "I almost cashed the check," says Cindy. Cindy had several reasons to believe this nearly $5,000 check is real. All she had to do was cash it, send the money in to pay fees and a $48,000 grant would be coming her way. “Whoever is doing it is very smart about it. They put household finance at the top of the letter," says Cindy. But Household Finance says the grant offer bearing a name similar to its name didn't come from the company. In fact, it is a trick. Then there's the check itself bearing the name of a real consulting firm. But again Cindy wasn't convinced. She called the company and found its name being misused on counterfeit checks. Cindy says "I talked to the gal at Lean Horizons Consulting and there are people who have cashed these checks thinking it's a legitimate offer and they're stuck for the money. They'll have to pay it back." Even the Bank of America logo matched her legitimate credit card but despite all the evidence that the check was real, it's really not. "I'm going to shred it," says Cindy. Household Finance says its company name is being misused by scam artists to fool potential victims into cashing phony checks. The company is working with law enforcement and various phone companies to shut down phone numbers listed on the scam letters. http://www.wowt.com/news/headlines/6479267.html
