I have to state my opinion here to y'all. I, too, was a victim of this scam, although for not as much money. My partner (The Peoples Chronicle - another victim) and I are working hard on staying on top of this scam to inform as many people as possible as a prevention technique. Many of us who fell victims to this scam became easy prey because: 1. We trusted that CareerBuilder.com would not misuse our information by allowing a scammer to have access to our resumes. 2. We were all looking for quick and easy money and when an entrusted company sends us an e-mail stating that they have just the right opportunity, we were immediately vulnerable to this scam. Although the e-mail sent is fraudulent, the use of CareerBuilder's name and logos was enough to draw us in. This is a slick scam, very intelligent people are behind it. We were absolutely unsuspecting from the beginning. 3. We were all trying to do the right thing -- how many of us considered just keeping the money? Faithfully wiring the money to the needy, we can't be stupid for trying to do the right thing. Like I said before, this is a slick scam, lots of psychology behind it. As a matter of fact (this is sarcasm by the way) -- if you do receive the cashiers check and cash it, keep all of the money -- pay some bills, buy some groceries and go shopping and tell your fake check scammer to screw off -- might as well, your going to have to pay it back in the end anyhow! Whether the money goes into your household or into the Ukraine. **SARCASM - don't hold me liable if this is what you do decide to do. If you haven't contacted me directly already, and are a victim to this scam -- even if you didn't wire the money, and just received the cashiers check, please contact me -- I have information that may interest you that I don't want exposed on the forums. I could go on and on about this scam and how we all fell for it, but this isn't my webiste so that wouldn't be fair -- I am asking that you all try to file as many complaints with your local Attorney General's Consumer Affairs departments in addition to the FBI, local police and the Postal Inspector. Don't give up on this, there may be light at the end of the tunnel. I understand it is difficult to put anymore energy into this fight, but it is a good and worthy fight, please don't give up. These scammers are currently active on 4 consecutive websites as of today 3/21/06. 1. www.elynahome.org 2. www.albertahome.org 3. www.adriahome.org 4. www.amaliahome.org The Peoples Chronicle and I are working hard on finding ways to prevent scams like this and others from claiming anymore victims. We appreciate your support, patience, understanding and diligence. The best prevention is knowledge and awareness before becoming a victim, please take part in telling as many people as you know by word of mouth, letters, websites and whatever other way you can think of. Blessings, ramonawnp
