Elyna Home charity is a scam www.elynahome.org

Quote:
REPEATED NAME CHANGES, REPEATED NEW FREE EMAIL ADDRESSES, NEW SITES, NEW HOSTING COMPANIES, STEALING THE IDENTITY OF LEGITIMATE COMPANIES. ALL THIS IS TO RECRUIT AND CONFUSED WHO THEY ARE.
MAKE NO MISTAKE WHO THESE THUGS ARE. CROOKS, CRIMINALS, SCUMBAGS TARGETING THE UNEMPLOY, ELDERLY, STUDENTS, STAY-AT-HOME MOMS, RETIREES, AND THE INNOCENT. LURING THEM INTO CASHING FRAUDULENT CHECKS
Last week, I got an email through Careerbuilder.com for a charity called Elyna Home International, stating that it needed people to work online during the day to "direct funds to their destinations" (or some such). I replied via email and got a fishy response saying that I would have to route the funds through my own personal bank account and that the funds would come in the form of checks, money orders and cashier's checks.

I went to Elyna Home's web site to get more details on this charity and everything looked pretty good and the content seemed very reassuring. However, I went to copyscape.com to see if Elyna Home had plagiarized their content from some other website and I found these other sites listed in the results: Diohome.org, Concordihome.org, Patriaweb.org, and of course, Habitat for Humanity, the original source of all the stolen content on the site.

Re: Elyna Home charity is a scam

Thank you Wellington for the information. This has been an active scam since October of 2005 that I know of. We are working diligently to inform as many as possible about these scammers as soon as they pop up. Your information was more useful than you know.

Thanks again,
ramonawnp

Re: Elyna Home charity is a scam

Wellington,

Thanks for your information. I received an e-mail from Mark Taylor with Elyna International via Career.com offering part-time work at home. Sounded interesting since I am retired. Haven't done anything with it because it sounded to good to be true so I started researching the net and found this forum. Thank you very much.

Re: Elyna Home charity is a scam

Hello Everyone,
This is my first time to your Forum. I found it by accident and I have to tell you that from the beginning I have been leary and suspicious of Mr. Taylor and Elyna Home. I received the email from Career Builder.com and showed it to my husband because my first thought was that it sounded like money laundering. My husband said that he agreed . However, I thought about it more and more and went to the listed Elyna Website. I read it over and over. I decided to give it a shot but, not without asking questions. When I would ask Mr. Mark Taylor questions he would be very vague in his response. I have saved a copy of every one of his emails to me and every one of mine to him. Even though I wasn't completely convinced I decided to give it a shot.
I too, have received a Cashiers Check sent to me by Express mail. I have tried as much as I know how to research this so - called Non-Profit Organization but, until now visiting this forum I wasn't getting any info.
I was sent a Donation $4,500.00 Cashiers Check from a bank in Houston, Tx. I have photocopied the check, created a seperate bank account specifically for this and kept the receipts including the Western Union paperwork. Each time money is sent to someone that is referred to as a "Transaction". I made 2 transactions so far out of the 4,500.00 Donation.
I was requested to send the cash to a person in the Ukraine. The same person BOTH times. I thought this was ODD! I was expecting to send money to the folks in the Katrina Hurricane vicinity.
For the first 3 to 4 Donations I receive in the mail I would immediately receive 7% of each transaction. After that I would receive 10% of each transaction. So, I have my pay sitting in this bank account just waiting for me to withdraw it.
Supposedly if the Donations are $5,000.00 or more then Mr. Taylor will have to do a "BackGround Check" on me. That part REALLY makes me uneasy because most people know that they have to give up their Social Security # and birthdate as well as other important personal info when a potential employer asks for it.
When I think about this, I just feel as though to follow thru and give up that kind of info would only allow for "Identity Theft" to happen.
As of today I haven't heard anything from Mr. Taylor. Please tell me what you ALL think and advise.... Isn't there somewhere we can go to confirm that they ARE NOT legitimate??
Anna Marie

Re: Elyna Home charity is a scam

After reading all of this VALUABLE information.. After depositing the check I called my local Bank to see if they could follow the trail of the cashiers check. . YOU see after 3 days had went passed, I went to the bank to see if the check had cleared. I was told that it had. So, due to unrelated reasons, I had not been able to get to the bank to make withdrawals to send out. I have made 2 transactions and was waiting for Mr. Taylor to contact me again. However, when I spoke with my bank just a few minutes ago, I was told that the Cashiers Check did not clear the Federal Reserve and that the bank where the Cashiers Check came from possibly didn't exist.
So, now as of MidNight tonight I will be Overdrawn $4,335.00. Although I am ultimately responsible for repaying the bank, the personal banker who opened the checking account for this purpose is trying to get me some information by spekaing with the banks Fraud Department.
While my life is NOT ruined, I am just sick about this and all I can do is just cry..

Re: Elyna Home charity is a scam

Here is the check that Mr. Taylor sent to me via US postal Express. It costs him $14.40. I never heard from him after I told via email that the bank hold the check. I never take that check to the bank try to cash it.
