October 30, TechWeb — Phishing Domain Resale Market Booms

Internet addresses that appeal to identity thieves eager to rip off consumers are being posted by major domain resellers, F−Secure said Friday, October 27. F−Secure has identified more than 30 registered domain names for resale on Sedo that would be of interest only to the legitimate holder of thetrademark or to phishers, criminals who try to dupe consumers into divulging personalinformation by enticing them to fake Websites. Among the domains: www.citi−bank.com, www.bankofameriuca.com, www.americanexpresscredicard.com www.mastercarding.com and www.visacardcredit.com "Why would anybody want to buy these domains unless they are the bank themselves −− or a phishing scammer?" wrote Mikko Hypponen, F−Secure's chief research officer. In its search of Sedo, F−Secure also found domain names for resale that use the accentcharacters "" and "" in place of the normal "a" or "i" to create "highly deceptive" URLs www.likevsa.com, www.p'ypal.com, and www.payp'l.com. Sedo said that while it has a process in place to pulldomain sales that violated trademarks, it was the trademark holder's responsibility to file arequest. Last March F−Secure identified nearly 500 domain names on variations of www.citibank.com and over 400 on versions of www.bankofamerica.com

subject ScamFraudAlert Contact Us Form - Legit Income Programs

The following message was sent to you via the ScamFraudAlert Contact Us form by Richard.
--------------------------------

This (your) website, and many similar sites show which income opportunity programs are scams and/or frauds, which is a good thing. However, where can a person (me) find the legitimate home based income opportunity programs?

Thank you,
Richard

Richard,
There are legitimate ones. I really don't know of any. Others are successful online like ebay, yahoo, youtube, myspace, mircrosoft, etc. etc.etc. the list goes on.
My concern here is that the most online sites for work at home just don't pay you the income these sites claimed. My other concern is that the people behind these sites hide their identity or are anoynomous.
Your chances are better on ebay or having some excellent product or inventions that is exclusive. I really don't know. If I did I would jump on those income opportunities.

I did tried one and got burned. Most of what I see are scams.....

Wow.... thank god I found this website today!

For the past few days, I was originally receiving calls from a woman at this company named "Evelyn", but each time I was not home and my father spoke with her. Each time he asked to take down her information and I (the owner of the 2006 Mitsubishi Evolution IX) would get back to her. My father said she was extremely pushy with him about the vehicle even though he told her multiple times that the vehicle was his sons. It didn't slow her down one bit.

Two days later (and 2 missed "Evelyn" calls later), I was home and received a call from the same "great cars and trucks" from a guy named "Trinity". He asked for me to send him 4 quality photos of the vehicle as well as a $182 payment (Evelyn asked my father for $160) for their service up front via credit card as gave me a big line of BS about I'd get a 100% money back guarantee on their service if I were to sell the vehicle on my own.

He claimed that they find buyers in my area who are already pre-approved for the amount I was requesting for my Evolution IX and said he already had 3 in the Long Beach, CA area where I live. Since it all sounded too good to be true, I told him to send me everything in writing as well as detailed information about their business and contractual obligations. He said they were all on the website Great Cars and Trucks Find A Vehicle, Sell a Vehicle throughout North America and neglected to fax me anything with their contractual agreement in writing with a certified signature.

Since I'm extremely skeptical about such business practices, I decided to first look up the area code from where "Trinity" called me today (third call from him) which was area code "204". Being in the after market performance accessories industry (CEC - Claus Ettensberger), I checked where they were and was not surprised to see they were in Manitoba, Canada. Multiple red flags immediately were raised by this.

So as I researched the number 888-224-5681 that "Trinity" gave me on google and it immediately brought me to this website www.scamfraudalert.com .

And to my surprise, as i was reading about the horrible experiences others on this site had gone through with this company, I couldn't help but register.

Then to my surprise.... my phone rang!!! It was "Trinity"!!! He immediately started to fast talk me and I told him to shut his mouth. Once he did, I first asked what his real name was (no response).... then if he was a Canadian company.... (no response). I followed by telling the little punk that I just did some research on his company and came across about a dozen "Scam/Fraud/Etc" websites detailing how he and his company are nothing but an internet scam who uses loopholes and protections in the US/Canadian trade laws to rip off American and Canadian consumers alike.

He then went silent and then my cell phone call dropped (he hung up). Right now I'm gearing up to call up all of the three numbers I've been given by this company and go ballistic on them. If Manitoba, Canada was closer to me or if I was one of you unfortunate guys to had been ripped off..... I would do everything in my legal power to shut this massive fraud down.

I'm going to call them back right now and see what happens. I'll report back in a few minutes.
